Who we are

Lesan Ul Arab Center for Teaching Arabic to Non-Arabs ("Lesan Ul Arab", "we", "us", "our") is the data controller for the personal data collected through lesanularab.com and our related channels. We operate from 18 Al Sheimy St., 10th District, Nasr City, Cairo, Egypt, accredited by Egypt's Ministry of Education (License No. 268/2004).

What personal data we collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

  • Contact and enrolment data β€” name, email address, phone number, country of residence, chosen course, and any message you send us. This is provided directly by you through booking forms, contact forms, or WhatsApp.
  • Placement and academic data β€” placement test results, attendance, exam grades, and level progression during your time as a student.
  • Payment data β€” payment is processed by Paddle as our merchant of record. Paddle collects the card or account details needed to complete the transaction; we receive from Paddle a transaction reference, the amount, the currency, the country, and confirmation of successful payment. We never see or store full card numbers.
  • Communication data β€” records of emails, WhatsApp messages, and other correspondence with the institute, kept so we can respond to and follow up on your enquiries.
  • Technical data β€” standard web-server logs (IP address, browser, timestamp) generated when you visit the website.

Why we use it

  • To respond to enquiries and arrange trial lessons.
  • To place you in the appropriate level and manage your enrolment.
  • To process payments and issue receipts, certificates, and transcripts.
  • To deliver lessons on Microsoft Teams (for online students).
  • To send you administrative updates about your classes.
  • To operate and secure the website and prevent fraud.
  • To comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, including those of the Ministry of Education.

Legal bases

Where the EU or UK General Data Protection Regulation applies to a student, we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract β€” to deliver the courses you enrol in.
  • Legitimate interests β€” to run and improve the institute, respond to enquiries, and prevent fraud.
  • Consent β€” for the newsletter and any purely marketing communication, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Legal obligation β€” for accreditation records and any tax or educational reporting we are required to keep.

Who we share data with

We share personal data only with the following categories of recipient:

  • Paddle β€” our merchant of record for online payments. See Paddle's privacy notice.
  • Microsoft (Teams) β€” used to deliver live online lessons.
  • Hosting and email providers β€” to run the website and send transactional email.
  • Google Analytics (GA4) β€” we use Google Analytics to understand aggregate website usage (which pages are visited, from which countries, on which device types). GA4 sets first-party cookies and processes an anonymised subset of your interaction data. We do not use analytics data for advertising and do not link it to your enrolment record. If your browser sends a Do-Not-Track signal, Google Analytics is not loaded on your visit. See Google's privacy policy.
  • The Ministry of Education of Egypt β€” where required by accreditation regulations, for issuing recognised certificates.
  • Competent authorities β€” where we are required by law to disclose data, or where necessary to protect our rights.

We do not sell personal data. We do not share personal data with advertising networks.

International transfers

Because the institute is based in Egypt and some of our service providers (such as Paddle and Microsoft) operate globally, your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own. Where this happens, we rely on the transfer mechanisms provided by the respective processors (for example, Paddle's Standard Contractual Clauses for EU/UK personal data).

Retention

We keep enrolment and academic records for the duration of your enrolment and for a period after graduation reasonable for issuing transcripts and complying with accreditation requirements (typically up to ten years for certificate records). Payment records are kept for as long as required by Egyptian tax law. Casual enquiry data that does not lead to enrolment is deleted within twenty-four months.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Ask us to delete data we no longer need to hold.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent for newsletter or marketing communication at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@lesanularab.com with the words "Privacy request" in the subject line. We respond within thirty days.

Cookies

The website uses two categories of cookies:

  • Strictly necessary cookies for the site to function (for example, remembering your admin login for staff users).
  • Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics (GA4) to measure aggregate website usage. These are first-party cookies and can be blocked via your browser's Do-Not-Track setting, which we honour.

We do not use advertising cookies.

Children

The institute offers a program for children aged 10 to 16. In that case, personal data is collected from the parent or legal guardian, not the child directly. We do not knowingly collect data from any child without parental consent.

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The current version, with the last-updated date, is always available at lesanularab.com/privacy.
